Thankful Thursday

June 30, 2011

I don’t know what it is but lately I’ve been lacking the motivation to get out and run. Maybe because it’s so hot and I can’t bear to run on the dreadmill? Maybe because for some reason I’m so mentally drained after a long day at work lately and all I want to do is catch up on DVR? Maybe it’s because I’ve been getting less sleep than normal because I’ve been personal training in the mornings before work? Maybe it’s because I know next week I’ll start my marathon training plan so I’m saving up all my energy for that? or maybe it’s because I reeeeeeaaallly need new running shoes? (My joints are not happy with me)

Whatever this not-running-so-much is… it’s putting a minor cramp in my style.

Last week I only ran twice. One speedwork run (3X 1 mile @ 7:30 pace, with 1 mi wu & cd) and one long run of 8 miles with Rachael.

Anyways, rant over. I figured with a rant needs to come some things I AM thankful for.

My Husband– Hubby bought us Astros tickets for last nights game and although we lost, it was nice to get some quality time together mid-week. Thanks hubby Smile

Strength Training- This is one thing I have been making sure to do. Lots of lunges, squats, and dumbbell circuits. I just recently picked up one of Jackie Warner’s newish DVDs and I love it! I’ve completed it 3 times in the last week. I love how I feel when I’m hitting the weights more frequently.

Personal Training– I’ve been really enjoying putting my personal training education to good use and look forward to using it even more in the future. I’ve been training at 5:30 am on the weekdays. It’s makes for a long day, but it’s totally worth it.

Green Monsters– what a silly thing to be thankful for, but whenever I’m feeling off I up my green consumption and it seems to boost my spirits and energy levels. I’ve been indulging in lots of green monsters these last 2 weeks.

My favorite green monster recipe of the now:

  • 1 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 large banana
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • 1 handful of ice
  • cinnamon to taste

3 Day Weekends and Vacations– This weekend is a holiday 3 day weekend and then the weekend after that I go on a week long vacation to West Texas. Can’t wait! Anyone want to guest post??

Church– Hubby and I have been making it a point to go to church every Sunday. It’s a great start to our week. I love the atmosphere of our church and we have a great pastor who has had some really great sermons these last few weeks. This was last weeks message:

Happy thankful Thursday!

What are you thankful for today?

I’m thankful for today being my boyfriends first day off in 2 weeks. We’ve spent some awesome quality time together!

We ALMOST went to the Astros game last night! It was official “Texas Tech” night so I had an opportunity for discount tickets. I hope y’all had fun!

I would also love to guest post. I’ve never done it before but I’m always up for a challenge. Let me know if you’re interested!

Also, today is my first make-up free Friday at work and I’ve gotten so many “you look tired” comments. Why must not wearing make-up mean I’m tired?

    Happy Friday!

I found your blog and it’s really awesome and I love to read your posts. We have some similar running goals and you are really on point with your running! I hope to run Boston one day as well!

Have fun in Garner- I loved going there as a kid, so many memories! That’s a great shot of you two at the game 🙂
